Fishing

The County Park on State Highway 105 offers fishing piers for lake fishing. There is also a pretected area for lake swimming. There is a minimal fee for admittance to the park.


Hiking

The Lone Star Hiking Trail wanders all through the Sam Houston National Forest. The closest trail is just 10 minutes away.

The George Bush Presidential Library is just an hours drive away. Visitors frequently enjoy a guided tour through the library from the former president himself.


Skeet, Trap, Sporting Clays

Houston is host to many shotgun sporting facilities. Conroe Shooting Center and Creekwood Skeet and Trap is the closest at just over 5 miles. American Shooting Center, Greater Houston Gun Club, Fayette County Gun Club, Carter's Country, Hot Wells, Pecan Meadows, Westside Sporting Center and PCS Shooting Range are just a few of the ones within an hours (or two) drive. The National Shooting Complex at San Antonio is about 4 hours away.

A new game preserve offering day hunts for quail is within 15 minutes!
Quail hunting is year round but best from October to April.
